One year after the Trump Administration implemented the Remain in Mexico (MPP) policy, immigrants and immigration advocates across the country called for a restoration of the U.S. asylum system.
​
The Remain in Mexico policy, also known as Migrant Protections Protocols (MPP) was created by the Trump Administration as an effort to keep out migrants seeking asylum at our southern border. The policy forces migrants to wait for months or years in camps in Mexico before their asylum cases are considered. It is a destructive and inhumane policy that must end.

Undocumented immigrants in New York can now apply for driver’s licenses in the state.
​
The “Green Light Law,” which allows all New York residents over the age of 16 to apply for a standard driver’s license regardless of immigration status, went into effect on Monday and hundreds celebrated across DMV offices in the state.

A major action to bring attention to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has begun, just days before the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments about the future of the program.
​
Over the weekend, some 200 Dreamers, undocumented immigrants, community leaders, allies, and supporters kicked off an 18-day, 230-mile walk from New York to Washington, DC in an event called the #HomeIsHere march. As the New York Daily News wrote, “they’re marching because they could lose everything.”

Thousands of eligible voters across the country took an important step on Tuesday toward having their voices be heard in the upcoming midterm elections: they registered to vote.

Volunteers, organizations, businesses, schools and elected officials took to the streets, held events in their communities and posted on social media to spread the word about the importance of voting and registered voters.

Six years ago today, the life of thousands of undocumented youth changed for the better in an instant. On August 15, 2012, the federal government started accepting applications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that was created by President Barack Obama earlier that summer. Tens of thousands of Dreamers lined up in major cities across the U.S. to learn information about how they could apply.

This Father’s Day, many fathers across the country will be having backyard BBQs with their children, receiving tools and tech gadgets and hugs.
​
For untold numbers of immigrant fathers however, the day will be different.
